AI Can Help with Survey Writing, But It Still Requires Human Expertise: Rachel Banawa for Nielsen Norman Group. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude can quickly produce polished survey drafts generating relevant questions, using clear neutral language, avoiding double-barreled wording, and suggesting mixed question types. However, AI consistently underestimates respondent burden, overlooks optimal response formats, and introduces subtle flaws that compromise data quality. Banawa provides seven practical tips for AI-assisted survey writing, framing AI as a drafting accelerator that performs best under skilled human supervision, not a replacement for survey design expertise.
AI, UX, and the Factory Model: Zeeshan Khalid for UX Collective. Khalid critiques the emerging 'factory model' of AI-driven UX design, which treats digital experiences as an automated assembly line efficient but fundamentally one-size-fits-all. The piece argues that this paradigm fulfils only surface-level user needs while neglecting the deeper, contextual requirements that make products genuinely valuable. Khalid warns that as agentic AI systems proliferate, researchers must actively counter 'black box anxiety,' contextual empathy failures, and loss of user control. The successful AI-era design agency, he concludes, will operate as a 'boutique journey' platform hyper-personalised, ethically grounded, and led by human orchestrators, not automated pipelines.
The UX Skill That Replaces Wireframing in 2026: Nurkhon Akhmedov argues that traditional wireframing is becoming obsolete as AI handles execution work, and the critical replacement skill is 'delegation boundary design' โ determining precisely what decisions AI should make autonomously versus where human judgment must remain. Drawing on supervisory control principles from aviation, Akhmedov frames the designer's role as shifting from comprehensive interface specification to defining the parameters within which autonomous systems operate. This interpretive work โ understanding unarticulated user needs and contextual vulnerability โ cannot be automated, and those who master it will be the most valuable UX practitioners of the coming decade.
